In times like these, it takes some serious gymnastics to justify profligate spending. Here’s my attempt: Karyn and I are going to, let’s see, stimulate the economy of the city of Everett, a company town with an unemployment rate currently north of 7%. In a gesture of cultural and commercial participation at its most direct, we’ll be going up this Sunday to sample the local cuisine, obey the quaint provincial traffic laws, interact with like-minded supplicants, and generally play the emissary. A review of the whole bloody thing will follow after the show.
