About the name: It’s pronounced d’knee. It traces back to my maternal grandfather, Dene Ralyea Edgerton, superintendent of District 110 before it merged with the Shawnee Mission (Kansas) School District. Can also be used to summon my niece, Kathryn Dene Lasseter (who’s sixteen now, and hates this picture).
